Hike history in Urban Nature: St-Charles river park

Urban River Restoration in Old Industrial District

$85/per participant – minimum 2

Duration: 3 h +

The history of St-Charles River is one of Quebec’s finest example of restoration of an aquatic system combined with urban renewal : St-Roch District is now known as Nouvo St-Roch.
In the 1990’s, many citizens of Quebec City deplored the state of the river resulting from many decades of industrial activities using the river as a dump, especially in the urban area.

Nowadays the river can finally breathe again thanks to a re-naturalizing strategy. Ongoing efforts allow flora and fauna to regain their important role in the ecosystem of this tributary of the St-Lawrence.
