Countryside Excursions
Enjoy a hike in a spectacular Glacial Valley or in a Wildlife Reserve
Duration 5-7 hours
If you enjoy getting away from the city for a closer contact with nature and fresh air, one of these excursions is for you.
Option A : Park National de la Jacques Cartier
Explore the serene nature of one of the most beautiful glacial valley of the Laurentian massif. The historic salmon river, almost destroyed by decades of logging, now welcomes hikers and nature enthusiasts. Enjoy a hike along the river while learning about the historical Jesuit trail and the challenges of modern life once threatening the very existence of the valley.
Option B : Cap Tourmente
The National Wildlife Reserve is a great place for bird observation, including migrating birds and peregrine falcons. The reserve is part of the Ramsar convention aimed at the protection of wetland areas. Located on the St-Lawrence River bank with a wide open view on the estuary, Cap Tourmente is also where the first farm was established by Champlain in the early XVIIth century. The reserve is a privileged place to enjoy trails overlooking the River and observe migrating birds including the Canadian snow geese.
